You found me! I'm Rei.

Thanks for digging in to find out who I am.

I've been a musician most of my life, starting bass at age 9, playing in ska punk bands in US and Japan, and signing to major and indie labels as a solo artist. My producer alter ego "SPARKA" recently received a Grammy Nomination for a reggae-infused beat I made in Eugene, Oregon.

I was also the kid that always drew manga/anime in class, and made video skits with friends. Upon returning to Eugene after a beautiful 13-year music career in Tokyo, the pandemic happened. Watching the world react in various extreme ways, I was intrigued by the power of visuals, and how strong it can influence how people "feel" about any particular subject. That's a lot of responsibility!

It felt very urgent. I felt "placed" in America at this particular time for "some reason." I stopped music (temporarily) to zero in on learning techniques and honing my style. Studying under my all time favorite 90's music video director Mark Kohr (Greenday "Basket Case," No Doubt "Just a Girl," etc.) was key to turbo-starting my growth.

As I grew, bands I met over the years began to hire me for photo shoots. Local jazz venue "The Jazz Station" has given me consistent work as well, allowing me to dial in the vivid monochrome style I admire by legendary photographers like Herman Leonard in the 1940's.

My style uses a lot of hyper angles, wide and fisheye lenses, vibrant color harmonies, and a focused intention to uplift.

My various past Japanese career and experiences are now surprisingly contributing and shining through in my photography sessions (full-circle vibes): working as a signed model, international TV show host, vocal recording director and lyricist, interpreter, DJ, etc.

By now, you might have a gut feeling of what to do next. Please feel free to follow me on IG bellow to get to know me better, and reach out when you know you want to work with me. Thank you for reading this!
